Why Don’t We Just DO Revival?
John Burton writes in his blog, RevolutionExperience.com:
I’ve often said, “It’s all about revival.” It is. Without question. Why? Revival is living a biblically normal life. It’s taking something that’s dying and calling it back to the normalcy of life. It’s calibration to God’s will. It’s justice- making wrong things right.
Something interesting happened today as I was watching a God.tv broadcast with Rick Pino, Bill Hamon and Bob Jones.
As I was watching and the Holy Spirit was stirring here in my basement, I felt a strong unction to press toward revival with a clear understanding: We aren’t really waiting for God… we can just ‘do revival’ right now!
Well, it was no more than five minutes later that Bob Jones started to prophesy. He said something nearly identical: “Quit waiting for God to bring revival and just do it!”
Amazing.
I talk about this in my teaching Four Fires. (You can listen to the teaching series at www.praytherevolution.com/media) We must be keenly focused and fully responsible to ensure we are burning white hot as individuals. We’re not waiting for the next conference, the next event or some sign to manifest. We burn hot now, and we burn hot always.
This is quite a serious and weighty issue. We must do now what we’ll be doing when revival does in fact break out. We must refuse to allow fatigue, depression, fear or stress to bog us down. We have to take unbiblical thoughts captive moment by moment. It’s up to us to seek out deliverance, to dive head first into a life of praying without ceasing. We have to be in the Word. Our whole life must revolve around God, the church, it’s mission and our involvement.
As we weed out the distractions, filter out the unholy and pray in the Spirit we’ll light our own fire.
As this happens, we’ll see the 24/7 church emerge. We’ll be in position with our fellow burning soldiers day after day. There will be a never ending trembling in our inner man. We’ll experience God night and day. Dreams, visions, angelic visitations and unusual manifestations of the Holy Spirit will increase sharply.
This is what the unsaved are waiting for. They don’t want us to attempt to naturalize God for them. They want to see supernatural burning men and women breathing fire into the darkness of their lives.
I say, let’s just do revival.
